Does Every Home Need a Termite Inspection?
Every home should have a termite inspection whether old or new, wood or stone. Some clients say, “The home is made of stone, so I don’t think I need a termite inspection.”
Not only can termites destroy the outside of the home but termites can destroy the wood framing of the home and the drywall inside.
Is A WDI Report Required?
When purchasing a home in Texas, most mortgage companies need a WDI (Wood Destroying Insect) Report of the home The purpose of a WDI report is to look for any signs of visible evidence of termites, old house borers, powder post beetles, carpenter ants or carpenter bees that may be present in the structure.
Who Is Responsible for Treatment?
The current owner is usually responsible for treating any reported infestation. Even though new homes typically do not have any signs of termites, however, a termite inspection should be performed to see if there are conducive conditions for future termite infestation.
